Splitgate 2

Microtransactions in Splitgate 2 are summarized as...

The game is currently in open beta. Things might change as the game gets closer to release, but the current state is indicative of the final state.

The game is free-to-play but offers various optional purchases. They are all cosmetic only and don't provide any sort of advantage.

Currencies

The game offers 4 ways to purchase cosmetics:

Splitcoin

"Splitcoin" is the primary premium currency. This can only be purchased via bundles where 1000 Splitcoins equals roughly 10 USD, with bundles granting slightly more value as you go up in bundle size.

Proelium

"Proelium" is a secondary premium currency. This is used to "upgrade" already owned cosmetics. This currency can be earned through challenges, the battle pass, or through purchases made using Splitcoin. The bundle sizes are different compared to Splitcoin. 100 Proelium equals 2000 Splitcoin, which equals roughly 20 USD.

Direct purchases

The game offers various packs that are purchased with real money. This includes 5 different founders packs, each offering a subset of cosmetics, or all cosmetics with the larger pack. There are 3 founders packs priced at 20 USD each, one pack at 40 USD, or a complete bundle at 60 USD. All of these offers cosmetic content as well as Splitcoin in various amounts. Next to founders packs the game also offers different packs. Currently one exists at 5 USD, which grants various cosmetics as well as 500 Splitcoin.

Battle Pass Tokens

"Battle Pass Tokens" are earned through daily and weekly challenges. These range from playing a certain amount of matches to getting a kills with certain types of weapons. These tokens are used to unlock cosmetics in the Battle Pass.

Battle Pass

The game is split into seasons, which itself are split into 3 smaller seasons. Each of these smaller seasons offers it's own battle pass at 500 Splitcoins (or roughly 5 USD) each. Each battle pass can be completed within the timeframe of a full season, rather than only it's sub-season. If you have not completed your battle passes before the full season is over, they expire and you will no longer be able to complete them.

Each battle pass is split into different pages. You earn Battle Pass Tokens through daily and weekly challenges, and these tokens are used to unlock items on each page. Progressing from page 1 to page 2 (and above) requires you to first earn a certain amount of tokens. For instance, to earn the right to purchase items on page 1, you first have to earn 135 tokens on, page 3 requires a total of 410 tokens earned, etc. You don't actually need to spend any tokens on previous pages.

Battle passes are bought using 500 Splitcoin, equally roughly 5 USD. Currently the first battle pass earns you back enough currency to purchase a new battle pass, but it's not clear if this will continue to be the case for future battle passes.

Premium Store

Cosmetics in the premium store are unlocked using Splitcoin. As previously stated, these are purchased through bundles. The bundles match none of the items in the store. For instance, currently the store offers items for 800, 950, 1450, 2300, and 3400 coins. Splitcoin bundles come in sizes of 500, 1050, 2150, 3800, or 5500. As such you are always forced to spend more for less. You will always have currency left over, in some cases you will need to choose if you want to have large quantities left over (purchasing 3800 coins for a purchase of 2300 coins, leaving you with 1500 left over), or make multiple purchases (purchasing 2150 + 500 coins for a purchase of 2300 coins, still leaving you with 350 left over).

The store features a rotating set of items, offering only some items each week. Once items have expired they may or may not come back at a later date.

Next to individual cosmetics the store may also contain bundles. The amount of cosmetics per bundle varies, and with that so does the price of the bundle. Large bundles may come in at 4000 coins (roughly 40 USD), smaller bundles start at 900 coins. Cosmetics in these bundles can also be purchased individually outside of the bundle. Purchasing them all via the bundle is cheaper than purchasing them individually. This is shown as a "sale" price on the bundle despite it being a bundle price, rather than a sale price.

The prices of many cosmetics used to be much higher, in some cases more than double. Prices were decreased after a lot of backlash. It is unclear if prices of future cosmetics will remain at the lower price.
