Splitgate: Arena Reloaded
Microtransactions in Splitgate: Arena Reloaded are summarized as...
Splitgate: Arena Reloaded is a re-launch of Splitgate 2. The game is revamped in many ways, including some of its monetization.
The game is free-to-play but offers various optional purchases. These are all cosmetic only and don't provide any sort of advantage.
Currencies
The game offers 3 ways to purchase cosmetics:
Splitcoin
"Splitcoin" is the primary premium currency. This can only be purchased via bundles where 1000 Splitcoins equals roughly 10 USD, with bundles granting slightly more value as you go up in bundle size.
Proelium
"Proelium" is a secondary premium currency. This is used to "upgrade" already owned cosmetics. This currency can be earned through challenges, the battle pass, or through purchases made using Splitcoin. The bundle sizes are different compared to Splitcoin. 1000 Proelium equals 2000 Splitcoin, which equals roughly 20 USD.
Direct purchases
The current offers one pack that is purchased with real money. This pack contains 1000 Splitcoins, as well as various cosmetics. These cosmetics can not be obtained in other ways.
More packs are expected in the future.
Battle Pass
In Splitgate 2 the battle pass was split into 3 different sub-passes. This is no longer the case. The game now offers one battle pass per season, for 1000 Splitcoin functioning similar to battle passes in other games. There are 115 tiers to unlock, with some being able to be earned for free. Completing the battle pass will earn enough Splitcoin to purchase the next battle pass.
The game also offers an Ultra battle pass. This can only be purchased via direct purchases rather than via Splitcoin, for roughly 20 USD. This Ultra version unlocks an additional set of cosmetics, currencies, and battle pass tier skips. The cosmetics are not unlocked on purchase, they are additional rewards on some tiers. It's a premium pass for the premium pass.
Battle pass tiers can be purchased individually for 150 Splitcoin each, equally roughly 1.50 USD. Purchasing the entire battle pass this way would cost over 150 USD.
Premium Store
Cosmetics in the premium store are unlocked using Splitcoin. As previously stated, these are purchased through bundles. The bundles match none of the items in the store. For instance, currently the store offers bundles for 1000, 1550, 1900, and 2000. Items in bundles can also be purchased individually. Prices here vary between 200 Splitcoin for small items, and 1600 Splitcoin for character skins. Splitcoin bundles come in sizes of 100 (1 USD), 500 (5 USD), 1050 (10 USD), 2150 (20 USD), 3800 (35 USD), 5500 (50 USD), or 11500 (100 USD). As such you are always forced to spend more for less. You will always have currency left over, in some cases you will need to choose if you want to have large quantities left over (purchasing 2150 coins for a purchase of 1600 coins, leaving you with 550 left over), or make multiple purchases (purchasing 1050 + 500 + 100 coins for a purchase of 1600 coins, still leaving you with 50 left over).
As noted before, items in bundles can be purchased individually, but at a vastly increased price compared to the bundle. A bundle might contain 3 skins for a total of 2000 Splitcoin, but individual skins might cost 1600 each.
The store features a rotating set of items, offering only some items each week. The developers have stated that once an item leaves the store it will continue to be available for purchase through the customization menu, at least for the remainder of the season, but perhaps indefinitely, the wording was unclear.. How this will work exactly will remain to be seen.
