Hytale
Microtransactions in Hytale are summarized as...
The game is currently in early-access, which can only be accessed via a direct purchase. The game is available in three different versions:
- Standard, for roughly 25 USD, granting access to the game as well as a set of cosmetic content.
- Supporter, for roughly 43 USD, granting access to additional cosmetic content.
- Cursebreaker, for roughly 85 USD, granting access to yet more cosmetic content.
These packs will only be available during the early-access period. Each packs states "...and more to come", alluding that additional content may be unlocked at a later date. What this might be is not yet known.
The game will feature a largely player driven marketplace for modded content. This is not yet available and the details are scarce. Some mods may feature optional donation options, or may feature premium upgrades over freely available content. Other mods may be entirely paid content. How exactly this will work is yet to be decided and may be a long way off. That being said, their EULA (https://hytale.com/eula) states several details such as:
- Mods may be monetized independently.
- Mods may not integrate or promote NFTs, crypto currency, play-to-earn schemes, or similar blockchain-based schemes.
- Servers may be monetized by offering subscriptions, paid access, cosmetics, in-server items, advertising, sponsorships, or donations as long as they are clearly labeled and are not misleading.
- Servers may not integrate any feature that constitutes or facilitates gambling or wagering.
- Paid random items must be properly disclose their outcomes.
- If you monetize your server you may be required to pay a revenue share to Hypixel in the future.
- All servers are solely responsible for paying for hosting.
This is a summarized list of agreements meant to illustrate how parts of the game may be monetized. This is all subject to change and not yet available but it is an indicator of what might be to come.
