Helldivers 2

Microtransactions in Helldivers 2 are summarized as...

The game contains a store with both cosmetic and gameplay altering items, with a focus largely towards cosmetic items. This store used to contain only a select few items, and rotate through different sets on a timed basis. This is no longer the case, the shop now features all items simultaneously. These items are purchased using a premium currency, this currency can be earned through regular gameplay as well.

The premium currency comes in bundles that always leave you with a little bit left over. That being said, all cosmetics are relatively cheap compared to other games. Most cosmetics used to range between 1-3 USD, but prices have steadily increased over time. Since the premium currency can also be earned in-game most cosmetics can be earned for free.

The game contains multiple Battle Passes with a free and a premium track. The premium track can be purchased using the premium currency, which means you can technically earn it through regular play as well and no purchase is necessary. Some items in the Battle Pass are not cosmetic only, they provide different weapons or certain gameplay enhancing items for your team. In some cases these consist of large gameplay altering weapons that may give you a significant advantage in certain situations.
The battle pass does not expire with time. New battle passes release frequently. As such, earning all these battle passes for free is not realistic for most players, certainly not new players. Earning enough currency for all passes will require a significant time investment. Purchasing all passes will cost well over 200 USD.

Helldivers has featured multiple "collabs". These are special battle pass tracks that feature cosmetics or items related to other franchises. These battle passes are significantly more expensive than others. Additionally the very first collab contained items in the premium store that were vastly more expensive compared to regular store items. This was not repeated for the second collab.

Purchasing all items in the store solely with currency earned for free is possible, but not a realistic goal for most players. The shop offers a large amount of items and adds more on a regular basis. With the various Battle Passes also available for the same currency, it would be require a large time investment to earn enough currency for everything.
